The desire to improve the quality of life for victims of serious illness, such as leukemia, requires a passion which is defined as a compelling emotion, a strong fondness and enthusiasm for something. In order to utilize the positives of such passion, it is essential to develop communicative skills so that sharing experiences and knowledge is effective.

There are a number of institutions and organizations that are excellent sources for locating supporting and outreach groups. In the Baltimore Area:
Participating in support groups can serve affected patients and families in so many ways in coping with the disease by understanding and anticipating so many factors that one may deal with in fighting the disease. Knowledge means power and the increased ability to handle the demands of survivorship. From the details of the illness, its symptoms and emotional and physical hardships to the matter of finances, employment, caregiving, and the need to move forward, during and after the fight, the overall management, of what many call an adventure, can be made much easier and more palatable.
One of the functions of the Harvey and Linda Litofsky Family Foundation is to offer communication involving experiences, information available, and access to talk with Harvey and or Linda Litofsky. We have had the privilege and opportuntiy of talking with so many patients with leukemia and other blood-related diseases as well as their families and friends.
We encourage those with backgrounds that can help others to survive to utilize these resources in a passionate and caring manner.
